La Artista or "The Performer" in black is a original work of art. This intricate piece of cultural art is hand sculpted from raw clay. The labyrinth of leaves, marigolds, vines, feathers, and flowers of all kinds cover this figure from stage to sombrero. There is over 700 sculpted extensions on this 25"tall/64cm three piece sculpture. La Artista Catrina is painted by hand in dark black with a satin finish.

Individual Catrina Eleganté are extremely fragile and delicate. Very specific handling information and instructions will be provided after checkout. These instructions and policies require purchasing customers full consent to follow receiving instructions before moving to the packaging and order fulfillment stage.

This Catrina is hand sculpted from raw earthenware a mixture of natural clays. After several hours of sculpting and shaping the raw clay figures. Each Catrina is then placed in a large traditional red brick oven/kiln that is heated naturally by wood. Individual Catrina figures are fired and cured for several hours. Once properly cured and dried the individual sculptures and their components(accents) are hand painted with a mixture of life-like colors that compliment the raw emotion / look / style or to detail and or extent, depending on the commissioned work. Marcos Perez is the lead sculptor and painting artist for each original Catrina figure. He leads a small group of creative apprentices from his family and greater artisan community of Patzcuaro, Michoacán Mexico. Sr. Perez is a celebrated, accomplished, and award winning artist.
