Description

This versatile Mediterra pendant light design will illuminate and compliment a variety of decor styles. Aptly dubbed the Piña Pendant after its stunning design and pineapple geometric inspired shape. Available in Clear glass, Cobalt glass and other colors. The iron cage sports a durable Oxidized Rust, both safe and suitable for outdoor use and display. This pendant provides a great amount of light given the type of bulb selected. The definition of "Creative Lighting”, captivating when not illuminated. Created through a fusion of artisan glass blowing & and master iron work. Every Piña Pendant includes our high-quality CSE / UL electrical component kit, with solid brass cable fittings and solid iron decorative mounting hardware.

This pendant light and all Mediterra Pendant lights are hand crafted using sustainable manufacturing practices, handblown glass is sourced from recycled glass bottles.♻︎

  • 1 Black glazed porcelain medium base E26 electrical socket. Power source: 660watt Max.-250volt Max. allow for strong incandescent & halogen bulbs or energy efficient LED bulb.
  • 1  UL/CSA certified electrical cable 36"in length; 16 gauge(thickness), Brown PVC jacket.

Mounting hardware kit. Hand finished best in class decorative hardware included with each pendant.

How It's Made

Our talented blacksmiths heat, hammer, and weld each iron bar into place this tedious process forms an almost geometric pattern unique to the Piña’s iron cage it also provides the right amount of light and casts a stunning shadow on the surrounding walls and ceiling. After the cage is completed it is taken to the glass blowing area of our artisan studio where Recycled glass bottles are collected, cleaned crushed / processed then heated in large kilns reaching 1500˚degrees, the molten hot glass is hand blown into the iron cage. This specific glass blowing technique allows the expanding molten hot glass to protrude past the iron bars creating an authentic bulbous quality. We are proud to design and create functionally artistic pendant lighting using sustainable practices.

Artisan Story

Artistic lighting constructed through a union of master ironwork & artisan glass blowing.

The complex process requires weeks, involves multiple artisan studios, with each fábrica working in specific artisanal mediums to engineer just one pendant. Beginning at the artisanal iron working studio, lead by master welder and blacksmith Alejandro Rodriguez. The Rodruigez family work in unison to heat, hammer, and weld each steel bar in place. This technical process calls for a little math and geometry to construct the cavernous and ornate steel cages in which the glass shade will be housed. Once individual steel cages are complete they advance on to the glass blowing studio where molten glass is hand blown into the iron cage. This specific free-form glass blowing technique allows the expanding molten hot glass to protrude out past the iron bars creating an authentic bulbous quality.
