Individual crosses go through a double-high kiln-fire process.
The 1st bake allows the raw clay to cure and harden before individual crosses are hand-painted with lead-free glass compound natural paint.
The 2nd bake is done in a high-fire kiln with a glass compound protective glaze finish. This bake occurs in a high-fire gas powered kiln for several hours where temperatures reach 1800˚F. The intense heat creates a reaction where the glass compounds transform into a glossy protective glaze coat. Hand painted on all sides except the back-side.
Because corsses are individually hand-painted each piece will vary slightly from the next. These artisanal qualities impart authentic personality and wholly unique presence.
