Meaning behind this Devotion Heart.
The design and essence of our Devotion Nautical hearts was born through multiple inspirations. Our extended family has a great number of birth dates falling within the 12th astrological realm, better known as Pisces. Mexico's artisan culture has an innate fascination with the mythological entities called Sirena’s or Mermaids. Concerning the subject of "Love" and all the beautiful and miserable experiences that it brings this design serves as a reminder that when Love has been lost, know that there are many other fish in the sea...
The Artisan Process...
Each heart is hand painted in a rich red then distressed with a dark varnish rub adding dimension and unique vintage appearance. The sides and back of each heart is hand painted in rich glassy red, the scales are hand painted with a gold enamel. Tail is cleverly sculpted and finished with a brown varnish that has a matte finish.
Very dense and durable ceramic that is fired in a Kiln that is heated by wood. Display Indoor or outdoor(in covered area). Equipped to hang on wall. A dimensional sculpture with a range of wonderful textures.
Inspiration behind our Devotion Heart Collection.
Each heart is a true combination of old world craftsmanship and whimsical artistry. Over the years we have created several Devotion hearts each uniquely different than the next. The concept for each heart’s design has emerged from our journeys throughout Mexico and the friendships we have built. Devotion Hearts are vestiges of love inspired by passion, stories of romance, faith and devotion.

Artisan Story
Zenwaro's collaborative relationship with the artist and master ceramicist, Rafael Piñeda, began 12 years ago. His experience with terracotta began at a young age, under the training of an uncle who was sculptural artist also working with terracotta clay. Rafael’s immediate family does not lack talented ceramicists, both uncles and one aunt are accomplished ceramic artists.
Rafael’s mentoring uncle was visually impaired and years later became completely blind. But the lack of sight never halted Luis's devotion for sculpting, rather he continued working until his death in 2019. Rafael cures/bakes all of his pieces in a wood-fired kiln, he has resisted the urge to convert his production model to a gas-fired, modern kiln. Rafael’s creativity observes the "traditional way" where he can control every aspect of the firing process.

I love this piece! It is eye catching hanging on the wall, but I also love the meaning behind it! I actually have the small one and a larger one!
