How It's Made

An Environmentally Sustainable Fabrication Process Utilizing Only Terra Material.
This pot was hand molded and shaped from a specific compound of raw clay. The raw earthen compound is mixed with water until proper consistency. The clay is then cast into large molds. These molds help provide the shape of the pot. Ceramicist then remove from the molds and finish the shaping and sculpting by hand. Once of proper shape and durability the raw earthen vessels are loaded into a large kiln. Kilns are heated naturally by wood and brush. Large to mid-size terracotta pots are heated and cured one piece at a time for 24 to 48hours; depending on the size of the vessel, the temperature of the kiln which varies between 300˚F-600˚F, and other variables. This sustainable artisanal technique has been practiced by indigenous ceramicist of Mexico for several generations.

The simple tazo / mug shaped pot is pronounced with nodes. In symmetrical fashion 8 columns of the raised 2"diameter nodes overlay the outer surface of the pot. Short Node planter has 2"thick terracotta walls; tapping the surface you can hear the reverberating concrete like density. A resiliency attributed to quality earthenware pottery making and craftsmanship.

Artisan Story

One of many noticeable differences between the type of mass-produced imitation terracotta pots found at home improvement outlets ~vs~ handmade terracotta pots is the artisanal personality and quality natural sediment. From the coarse texture(reminiscent of a sandy beach) to the density, weight, durability and lasting resiliency of the terracotta. Attributes that are inherit to the artisanal process by which each pot is created by hand.

The hairpin stand are custom handmade from solid wrought iron just for this terracotta pot. The Node pot and stand combo is a signature Zenwaro design.
