Creating A Unique Vessel For Your Furry Companion.
Our hand-painted ceramic pet bowls incorporate the entire Talavera color palette to create majestic imagery and patterns of each edition. Cultural, floral, and geometric patterns directly influenced by traditional Talavera & Majolica artistry of Puebla Mexico. Tierra Talavera bowls are twice baked in a high-fire kiln. The first bake cures and hardens the raw natural terracotta. Next our talented all Female team of Talavera artisan painters “free-hand-paint” each bowl with the selected pattern, a tedious process that requires no stencils, only practiced skill. The bowls are then loaded back into the kiln for the 2nd bake occurs in a high-fire gas powered kiln for several hours where temperatures reach 1800˚F. The intense heat creates a reaction where the glass compounds previously applied transform into a glossy protective glaze coat covering the entire surface of each bowl.
This glossy glaze protects the ceramic and hand painted pattern also allowing it to be both waterproof and resilient to intense heat. The glaze finish also draws out all of the colors and provides a vibrant shine.
About this Talavera Pattern | Sol
The Sol or Sun pattern is inspired by the beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows found throughout Mexico from the Marigold flowers, to the Saltillo tiled homes, and of course the vibrant sun which always seems to shine brighter when we are there. Each bowl is different, giving each of them character and individuality. Your pet is similar in character and individuality so treat them to a ceramic dog bowl separate from the rest.
